The University of Houston Cougars basketball team from 1982-84, nicknamed the “Phi Slamma Jamma”, will be remembered by Nike with this exclusive Big Nike High. The Phi Slamma Jamma team consisted of future hall of fame players Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler, and were known for their slam dunking abilities and explosive, fast-breaking style of play.

The “Phi Slamma Jamma” Nike Big Nike Hi LE features several key elements that were inspired by the basketball team, like : red/white/black leather for the University of Houston team’s colors, red/black plain fabric on the sides & heel to represent all the plaid clothing the head coach wore (Guy V. Lewis), and of course the Phi Slamma Jamm fraternity signs along the ankle.
