Believe it or not, even Nike had a few problems in the past. The company sold a few successful shoes before 1984, but this was the year when they first started to notice problems. They had severe competition under the names Adidas and Converse, and had no idea on how to get rid of it.
At that point, Michael Jordan was just a promising basketball player, and only a small number of companies were searching for him. In fact, he would have preferred a deal from another shoe company, but Nike was the one which caught the attention of his agent. Surprisingly, Jordan was still reluctant on signing the deal, it took hard work until Nike, and the not yet famous basketball player started the base of one of the most known basketball shoe: the Air Jordan.
Unlike most sports shoes of those days, the Air Jordan was not white, but black with a few red parts. This immediately caught the attention of the media because of their controversial colors and more and more people were interested in getting a pair of these shoes themselves. As the years went by, a few more models were created under this name and the Jordan Brand gained a life of its own in 1997, when it became a sub-brand of Nike. After that, more and more shoes have been designed and the sales increased dramatically.
Almost 25 years have passed since the appearance of the first Air Jordan sports shoe and the product still remains one of the most popular Nike foot apparel that you can get. You can find them anywhere and everywhere without too much effort. Quality and looks have improved dramatically in the last few years and more and more people are interested in trying a pair out.
