March Madness is the most entertaining time of the year when it comes to college basketball. The top teams from colleges across the United States are placed in tournament brackets, battling it out to ultimately claim their spot as the best team in the NCAA. For the 2009 March Madness, Nike created some special edition Hyperdunks for a few of the participating teams: Duke, Memphis, Michigan State, Connecticut, Oklahoma State and Gonzaga. Each team worked closely with Nike iD in the design process of the sneakers, having full control over customizing their own team basketball shoe.

The Nike Hypermax is scheduled to release between July & August of this year ( June 2009). The Hypermax was modeled after the popular Nike Hyperdunk basketball shoe and comes equip with the same Nike Flywire technology but also adds new features, like a full length Air Max Unit and an ankle strap. Just a few days ago this Neutral Grey / Sport Red Red – Black University colorway appeared on eBay in a size 9 and lasted check the bid was only at $71.

Nike Hypermax Spring / Summer 2009 (Detail Pictures)

A couple days ago we presented you a picture of the Nike Hypermax that’s expected to drop in stores in the Spring / Summer of 2009, but today we’ve stumbled upon some detailed pictures. The Nike Hypermax is trailing the same path as the Nike Hyperdunk and hopes to have the same overwhelming welcome like it’s predecessor. The Nike Hypermax offers the same Nike Flywire Technology and an air max unit in the heel which provides some extra comfort for the bigger basketball players. This sneaker will be hitting up store shelves next year at a retail price of $130. See more pictures after the jump.
