Air Jordan 2009 (2K9) Unveiled

Air Jordan 2009 (2K9) Unveiled Yesterday, January 8th, 2009, Michael Jordan unveiled to the masses the highly scrutinized Air Jordan 2009 (2K9). Up until now rumors circled that the Jordan legacy  would come to a stretching halt with the release of the Air Jordan XX3 (23), but now that the Air Jordan 2009 is set to launch in February, it seems MJ and his signature shoe line are here to stay.

Designed by fellow Chicagoan Jason Mayden, the Air Jordan 2009 gives a fresh new look to the Jordan Brand franchise by providing a sophisticated style and innovative Articulated Propulsion Technology (APT). The bottom portion features an elegant blown-glass concept that requires a procedure that makes each pair one of a kind. Equipped with the same carbon fiber prosthetic materials used by Paralympians like April Holmes of the Team Jordan, this sneaker offers the wearer the ability to gain that explosive forward movement that every player needs in the game.

Other details include, stain pleats, smooth white panache leather, an extra high heel-cut for increased awareness of foot placement, and diamond shaped holograms on the sides. In addition, phrases taken directly from the Michael Jordan statue in front of the United Center are imprinted along the heels; “Greatest there ever was” & “Greatest there ever will be.”

The Air Jordan 2009 (2K9) officially releases on February 14th for a retail price of $190, but a limited version drops this month on January 31st for $230. See detailed pictures and a video interview of Jason Mayden & Michael Jordan.

Tinker Air Jordan III Revolution (1987) | Tech Pack Sketch

Tinker Air Jordan III Revolution (1987) | Tech Pack SketchTinker Hatfield single-handily led the Jordan Brand design team over the past two decades,  creating fourteen different versions of the Air Jordan basketball shoe with the first design being the Air Jordan III (3). It’s said that the AJ3 is Micheal Jordan’s most treasured model and marked the turning point of his signature line.

Recently,  this partial stretch for the Air Jordan III (3) Revolution  “Tech Pack” ( a package that contains the blueprints for all the parts of a shoe that have to be molded before they’re sent to the factories)  surfaced over at NT. The picture displays a drawing of the cross sections and measurements for the heel, lacing tabs, eyelets, and other key details.

Background Info:The Air Jordan III (3) was originally label as “Revolution” because of  a reference to the 1998 marketing campaign featuring shoes with the visible Air Unit. The sneaker was widely based on the Air Revolution Low and shares the same upper components, midsole, cushioning, eyelets, ankle cut, and overall silhouette…minus the strap.
