On Tuesday, August 24th, the latest documentary of ESPN’s critically acclaimed 30 For 30 series featured none other than the G.O.A.T., Michael Jordan. The documentary explored the time period where Jordan suddenly decided to leave the NBA and travel down to Birmingham, Alabama to pursue a career in minor league baseball.
In the documentary, the writer/director Ron Shelton picks and prods at the events surrounding Jordan’s life from 1993-1994 which includes Jordan’s NBA exist, his motivations behind making the drastic change, and the misconceptions/conspiracies the media created. We get interviews with several people from Jordan’s life like Phil Jackson who talks about what management asked him to do when they learned that he was going to retire. The 90′s Chicago backdrop even gets some air time, showing a rare overview of the area before Millennium Park and the Trump Tower were built.
Its an intriguing one hour documentary that’s highly recommended for any Jordan fan that’s sure to shed some light on some unanswered questions.
